Prepare an Interview Folder

Purchase an 81/2x11 inch color folder. Plan on giving it to your interviewer. Consider using a folder with pockets on each side to hold the items you plan on including.

Color Folders

  • Four to ten extra copies of your current resume.
  • Prepare a list of three to five references; at least two of them should be from previous employers or close business associates. Include the day and evening phone numbers and addresses of these contacts. Do not list family members as references. Do not include your references or salary history on your resume—this is commonly considered unprofessional.
  • Photocopies of any letters of recommendation from previous employers
  • Photocopies of any memos or letters pertaining to recognition you have been awarded
  • A copy of your transcript if you recently graduated.
  • A writing sample (If you believe that the position may require some amount of business writing)
