Rung #3 - The Smart Way to Conduct an Effective Job Search
Gathering Credible References who Can Speak on Your Behalf It is important to help your references should they ask what to say about you. Makes sure they speak to your character, your job skills, your abilities. References are valuable because they can say positive things about you that you are not able to say about yourself. Here are a few questions you might have about your references: Q: Can you have family members as references? A: No. Using a family member as a reference is not an accepted
practice. Q: What about reference letters? A: Yes, absolutely! A good reference letter along with your resume and cover letter can help to set you apart from the hundred resumes in the pile. Q: What should my list of references include? A: The full name of the person, his or her current job title and the name of the company. Be sure to include one or more contact telephone numbers. Note: be sure to let your contacts know that they might get a call so that they are prepared to speak on your behalf.
Writing/editing services are also available at a reasonable price.
